Since our launch 40 years ago, our accountancy firm has continued to grow, and now we serve clients in Yaxley, Peterborough, and beyond. Our firm

Bird & Co was formed by local Yaxley accountant Pete Bird and we now serve not only clients in the Yaxley and Peterborough area, but more widespread as well.The business continues to grow from personal recommendation and from increasing awareness of our practice within the area.


Our Aim

Our aim is to provide all the assistance needed by our clients. We will be responsible for all the tax and accountancy compliance work for our clients and ensuring that filing deadlines are met. This work includes the basic system design to ensure that our clients’ records are sufficient to pass HMRC scrutiny, through to the final accounts, plus the tax work and helping with other challenges faced by our clients

Pete Bird – Director

Our firm was founded by Pete Bird FCPA in the 1970s, and he has been based in or around Yaxley since then. As a qualified and practising member of the Certified Public Accountants Association, Pete advises on all areas of accountancy and taxation, but his main aim is to provide effective communication with clients on a personal basis.

Pete’s down-to-earth approach and ability to get quickly and accurately to the root of problems makes his advice highly valued by his clients, many of whom have been with him since the start of his business. Some are now even introducing their sons and daughters to the practice as they start-up businesses of their own.

Since May 2013, Pete also writes for local magazines on diverse topics including tax matters that are repeated more fully on our website and emailed out as monthly free newsletters.

Lesley Bagnall

Lesley Bagnall MAAT has worked with Pete since October 2011, and is a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians. Lesley is responsible for all the bookkeeping, VAT and Payroll tasks for various clients as well as being the self-appointed “tea maker”!

Lesley has a vast amount of experience in accounting packages such as VT Transaction+, Sage, Quickbooks and many others, so she is available to assist and advise clients in setting up their systems and complying with their record keeping obligations. Lesley also undertakes various tasks including the preparation of client’s accounts and being a valuable member of the team, she also keeps the offices running smoothly.

SUZANNE PETCH

Suzanne MICB PM Dip joined the team in December 2018 bringing with her ICB Bookkeeper status, having studied at home and passed with distinction exams in Payroll and Bookkeeping with the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers.


She has brought with her extensive experience over the years with Sage and Xero, now adding to that with VT Transaction+ for accounts and Moneysoft for payroll. Completing bookkeeping tasks, payroll and VAT returns for various clients. 


Bringing a calm and friendly approach to the office, and adapting to the ever changing accounting environment.

Chris Woodham

Chris joined the practice as an accountant in June 2024 bringing an energetic and pre-emptive approach to all matters accountancy.


Ensuring that his advice is always relevant and offering an efficient, accurate and bespoke way of offering you tax savings. Chris also brings with him knowledge of a myriad of different accountancy software to make compiling and preparing accounts easier and less stressful for the client, particularly with MTD.


Chris has years of experience of accountancy and customer service working in the finance field who has a clear and concise way of conveying information. His friendly and approachable manner will help clients with all matters accounting and taxation, combining a modern approach with a down to earth understanding and personal manner.


In Chris’s personal time you can find him unwinding to music, out with friends or working on his keen passion for photography and music production.

Sarah WHITE

Sarah joined the practice as an Admin Assistant in September 2024 to provide general office administration.filing and record maintenance.

With over 20 years experience in finance and administration, she has worked predominantly in accounts payable for large companies, bringing a passion for accuracy and organisation and has a great knowledge of finance systems and processes.

Outside of the office, Sarah enjoys netball and running, alongside being a proud mum.
